A few months after I started meditating following 9/11 I began to write spiritual poetry which culminated in a book in 2006 called The Mathematics of Daisies.

I have been working on two follow-up volumes called Buddha by Candlelight (which has just been published) and The Romance of the Tundra which should be out next year.

I am a little hard on myself when not being productive… I have the words of a Cat Stevens song in my head Silent Sunlight…'Never look behind at the work you've done, for your work has just begun'.

I've recorded about ten pop songs with some of the lyrics adapted from my poetry but I am a little wary of the music industry. I would like to develop my skills for songwriting though and write for other people.

I am a fan of Ekhart Tolle's books The Power of Now and A New Earth, I think he speaks a lot of sense and I try to put his ideas into practice in my life.

In the past I have been a keen photographer and traveller and a publisher of a psychology/spirituality magazine as well as an Islamic magazine in the mid-nineties.
