Will We Ever Learn to Be?
Will We Ever Learn to Be?
Denounce or admit
That the picture might be true,
The birth of us all
In a galaxy so blue.
Where the stars burn and ponder
On the wisdom of it all
And the sun shines down
And holds us all in thrall.
In a pre-atomic world
Where cavemen sit and stare
And ask the same questions
Of which we are aware.
This malleable universe
Where planets come and go.
Do we ever reach maturity?
Or build on what we know?
Will we ever learn to be?
Just be and not to care?
For past or future
We're neither here nor there.
Philosophers and priests,
Laymen and the young
Reach a certain point
And find they've just begun.
For the beginning was so small,
It's difficult to see
And the end is oh so distant
That what will be will be.
